FAQs

What it's like to move with Your Move Simplified.

Once your move is scheduled, our job is to take the weight of the process off your shoulders.

From the first packing day to the moment your home is fully set up, our team manages every detail so you don’t have to.

Here are a few of the most common questions clients ask about how the process works.

General questions

Your Move Simplified is a move coordination and management company that also offers organization services.

We are not a moving company. We are more than that.

We will arrange our pre-approved, vetted move companies to help you move. We coordinate with them about the number of boxes, the size of the team needed, the number of hours. That alone will save you HOURS.

We work throughout the state of georgia. While most of our projects are in atlanta, buckhead and virginia highlands, we also take on projects in all of georgia including: rome, alpharetta, johns creek, cumming, sandy springs, tyrone, peachtree city, stockbridge, and eagles landing. We’ve even done work in blue ridge, elijay and big canoe.

First and foremost we are a judgment free zone. Honestly, what’s “messy” to one person may not look messy to another.

You may have 10 coffee machines, and only drink tea. Or have piles of stuff in your garage that you’ve never sorted through. Or have a closet with more stuff on the floor than on the hanger.

Our priority is to help you organize and move your belongings so you can actually use them. We leave our judging for RuPaul’s Drag Race and the Bachelor.

We understand that moving is not a cheap. There are reasons why it isn’t cheap.

Moving supplies, moving truck, and labor is expensive.

Sure, you can make it cheaper by getting single ply boxes, or not wrapping your items in newspaper, or hiring inexperienced people to pack your home, but there’s a cost to this: broken items, scratched furniture, and the stress of “is my stuff going to break.”

It’s actually cheaper (and smarter) to hire us.

We charge based on:

****The Size of Your Move****

How many rooms you have, and how much stuff is in each room

****Labor Needed****

How big of a team do we need? How much will you pack versus our team?

****Moving Supplies****

Number of boxes needed, and how much newspaper, etc.

****Additional Vendors****

Junk haulers, estate sales, etc.

Moving FAQs

YES.

Moving is the most stressful activity you can do in your life. Don’t believe us?

The short answer is yes.

For that matter so can your children, friends, family and neighbors, but for the same reason you wouldn’t necessarily use movers to pack you you really wouldn’t want your housekeeper and others helping.

Packing is a trained skill.

You’ve spent a lifetime collecting the things in your home.

You wouldn’t want just anyone handling them and you’d be so disappointed when things arrive scratched, dented and broken.

It’s all about space planning.

Smaller? How much smaller? Which rooms will not be repeated in the new place, how much less storage space will you have?

Proper sorting, purging, donating and selling of the castoffs will ensure a better fit for your new place. Ideally you arrive with the things you need and love.

This article might help you if you are considering downsizing in the Georgia area. Read here.

Similar to moving to a smaller place, moving to a larger place is all about space planning.

Will the furniture in rooms in your current home be going to the same rooms in the new home? If not, where will they go?

Will you be adding pieces of furniture with additional storage?

Having more space can be just as challenging as having less space.

By hiring Your Move Simplified for your next move in Atlanta, we can help you decide where things should go and how things should be stored.

We can work with you if your children are home, but it will create things for you to focus on.

Working through your space does require your attention.

If we are making decisions for you about the organizing system you should use, then we will need less of your time.

We can work around your schedule, but early on if we can have your undivided attention, we can get more done, and create a system that makes sense for you.

When Your Move Simplified arrives for your free consultation, you will show us your the areas in your home that concern you or are in need of a system or some organizing.

We will need your assistance with some general guidelines of what you want the space to look like and items you might want to purge. It’s not a problem if you don’t have these answers.

We can work on deconstructing the room by sorting and grouping like items.

Once we’ve completed this you can review the items and we can discuss what to keep, trash, donate or sell.

We’ll discuss a plan for the items you want to keep and implement. We will bag and box up trash and haul off your donations. If you have items you want to sell we can connect you with local options for that as well.

Move Day FAQs

Very little — that’s the beauty of a full-service move.

We bring all packing supplies and handle the process for you. The only preparation we recommend is setting aside a few “safe zone” items you don’t want packed, such as laptops, medications, important documents, or sentimental items.

Many clients place these items on their bed or in a designated room so they remain easily accessible.

Our team typically arrives around 8:50 AM and works until about 4:00 PM.

Your Team Lead will begin with a walkthrough to confirm safe zones and review the plan for the home. From there, our crew carefully packs everything using professional materials and labeling systems.

By the end of this phase, your home will be reduced to “camping level” — your daily essentials still available, but the rest securely packed and ready for the move.

We arrive before the movers to finish any last-minute packing and coordinate the entire process.

Our team walks the movers through both homes, directs where everything should go, and manages the flow of the move so you don’t have to answer questions or supervise logistics.

We also unpack your “Open First” boxes so you can settle in comfortably your first night.

Beginning the next day, our team returns to unpack and set up your home.

We start by getting everything out of boxes and placed in the correct rooms. Then we move into organizing closets, setting up the kitchen, arranging storage spaces, and hanging artwork or styling shelves if requested.

Our goal is for you to walk into a home that already feels settled.

Not necessarily.

Many of our clients choose to be away during the move and simply provide access instructions. As long as we have entry to the home, our team can manage the entire process.

Of course, you’re always welcome to be present if you prefer.

Tipping your movers is a personal decision based on your level of satisfaction with their work and your personal financial situation.  While there is no hard and fast rule, if you search on the internet a general guideline is to tip around 5-10% of the total cost of your move or $5-$10 per hour per mover.

At Your Move Simplified, our goal is to provide exceptional service and the movers we recommend do as well.  Therefore, the majority of our YMS clients add $10 per hour per mover to the overall bill of the movers which is paid by Scott and then is itemized for you in the overall YMS bill at the conclusion of our work.  However, ANY tip is appreciated and can be added to the total cost of the move OR handed to the movers in cash.   Your YMS lead can also distribute a cash tip, if easier or more comfortable, for you.

Please expect your YMS Lead to ask you what your tipping preference is on, or prior to, move day so they can appropriately complete the necessary paperwork.

While tipping is a gesture of gratitude, it is by no means a must, and the movers should not expect or demand one from you.

YES!!!  We would be happy to help consolidate and remove donation items from  your home.  If you have a large amount of donations and/or furniture donations, we will arrange for pick up.  If there are small amounts of donations, a team member can take them away using their vehicle.

However your donations are taken away, we will provide you with high-level photos of the bags/piles of donations along with a receipt to where we dropped them off as part of our normal service.

Please note that if you need more detailed photos or documentation than that, you need to discuss your needs with your YMS Lead.  They can determine how to accomplish your needs as well as give you an estimate of additional cost.

Moving can be both a daunting and emotional process. At Your Move Simplified, we personalize a moving strategy that reflects who you are and the unique contents of your home, then execute it on your behalf. We help you quickly settle in to your new house so you can rejoin life and start making memories with loved ones in your new home
